Apple Bans Digital Comic

Is it a case of "think different- think just like us"?

Murderdrome, first digital comic made especially for iPhone/iPod, has been banned from the iTunes App Store as inappropriate.

Infurious Comics, the publishers of Murderdrome, are making a plea to Apple for the same age categories to their books/comic sections as in their games and music sections. "We have extensive support from the industry in this and would welcome a change in the current store in order to make sure that content is categorised appropriately, " says an Infurious spokesman.

Visit Infurious' Website to add your comment about this ban. All comments will be forwarded to Apple in protest.

The ban of Murderdrome has a silver lining. Infurious' Comic Reader app for delivering comic book content to the iPhone is simple and sophisticated. By supporting layers, the app allows the readerĀ  to view the inks, pencils and original art for the final comic.

Infurious' team have already secured another script and art and will be submitting another comic written and drawn specifically for the iPhone/iPod touch to the App Store in the next few days and has commitments from established creators for exclusive content. Intersted artists should contact Infurious about publishing their own comics for iPhone and iPod.

"The big win for our business model is that the creation of the reader application, although sophisticated, is also simple. Comic creators can submit their media to Infurious and we handle the processing and build of the application and submission to the App Store. We take a small percentage of cover price, Apple take their standard 30% and the creators retain rights and start earning with the very first sale."
