Being artists, we tend to be more passionate about things than those using the other side of their brains. Of course I am not saying you can’t be passionate about numbers, but I have a feeling my accountant gets his kicks away from his nine to five. We are blessed in that Art can truly bring out the passionate side in a person who can see it for what it is.

Camdapter by Jim Garavuso vs Nikon SLR Hand Strap

A former student of mine dropped by to show me his new Nikon D80 camera. He stopped in because he knew my wife had the same model and he wanted some help with a couple of menu choices.
I noticed a handstrap on the right side of his camera, into which he slipped his right hand, which left his other hand free to support its long lens. This is a feature he uses frequently shooting sports and wildlife. Having just come back into the world of pro-weight cameras, and being older than I once was, I realized this might now be for me too. »»

I am a man of some habit, and one of those habits is to surf a couple of websites each morning even before I select the News site. It has something to do with drinking the first cup of coffee and deciding to wake up with pleasant or interesting (to me) information before I have to grit my teeth at the foolishness of Man when I select World and National News.
One of my morning websites is photography-related and gives you the option of Canon, Nikon, or everybody else camera questions and comments. FredMiranda.com is my first dose of photography of the day and sometimes the way I end the day as well. »»

If the biblical prophets had been cyberculture visionaries like William GIbson & Bruce Sterling, they might have named the Fifth Horseman of the Apocalypse "Complete Data Loss":
"And when he opened the fifth seal, I heard the voice of the fifth living creature say, “Come!” And I looked, and behold, a trojan horse! And its rider’s name was Data Loss, and Hardware Failure followed him…."

Asset Management can mean different things. In every instance, it refers to the collection and organization of data about the things an organization or individual owns. To an accountant, this data is used to manage the financial aspects of ownership- taxes, cost of ownership, etc. In essence, everything having to do with MONEY.
To the digital artist, asset management refers to the organization of the ever growing library of fonts, images, reference pictures we depend on creatively. The building blocks of our ARTWORK.

hen I was in college I can’t tell you how many times the subject of "what makes art–art" came up. Everyone had his or her own ideas and theories some of which I agreed with and some not so much. Of course there was the occasional "non- art major" who belted out with " How can someone call that art?" when viewing a slide of one of Jackson Pollock’s paintings or my all time favorite - Mondrian. »»
