This project was for Elizabethtown College in Pennsylvania. The College’s Director of Alumni Relations and member of the Athletics Branding Committee, Mark Clapper, contacted me about creating a Blue Jay logo and accompanying family of visual identity marks and wordmarks. This project was intended to replace their existing mark that had been a part of their Department of Athletics since 1988. For a project of this importance, we worked closely together on several sketches and concepts throughout the course of several months to get the perfect image. I was truly honored to be a part of this process and have the opportunity to be on campus for the official unveiling during their Homecoming and Family Weekend celebrations in the fall of 2010.
The video provided here is a screen capture of the build-out in Adobe Illustrator. Some parts have been slowed down to show some menu selections that were involved. The video is not intended to be a step-by-step tutorial, but rather a quick-look into the process of building a clean-lined graphic.
Visit the Elizabethtown Colleges Athletics department for more information about the team.
Should any questions be posted about the process, I will do my best to provide answers.
