Does anyone know if this is good for scanning large artwork on a non-flexible surface (like wood) that will have to sit *on top* of the scanner rather than in the rectangular guideline?

Thank you for writing about the advantages of using this a3 scanner … and for disclosing what you perceive to be the disadvantages of this unit. Like so many scanners, it appears to take a long, long time to completely scan the object with this Mustek.

I have been using this scanner for the past few months as well, and totally love it. Its my first large format one, and works quite well with my Mac and Photoshop.

My only drawback is that is does not have a power switch, but that is pretty typical of scanners, I guess.
